My Review

Anyone who knows me knows that i love to eat but unfortunately i am not very skilled in the kitchen. Yet you would never be able to tell this from my vast library (and magazine cut-outs) of recipes and cook books. I guess i have never had the confidence nor the patience to prepare a great meal. However, after reading Desserts for Today:  Flavorful Desserts with just Four Ingredients, i am convinced that this book should be added to my library if not for the versatility of the desserts, for the shear simplicity in creating them.

Deserts 4 Today is really a layman's approach to making desserts that merits the talent of a top-notch chef. Its filled with great features such as Switch in, Gussy it up and Techy talk that all help you to navigate your way through the recipe, allowing you to substitute some ingredients or learning about fun facts and tips about the recipe. Dodge sticks to her word when she states that only four ingredients are used. This tactic worked in the long run since you do not actually make some of the deserts from scratch. Added to this is the fact that the four ingredients used are common items that can be found in our pantries.  When acquiring cooks books, i am always concerned about the ingredients used since many of them are not accessible in my country. I am glad that Dodge has made that much easier for me to make these desserts.

Though i have not taken a practical approach to reviewing this book, i hope to begin making my own five-star deserts soon! Stay tuned to see what i cook up next.

I, too, have a collection of cookbooks, cutouts, and food magazines. I usually end up going for my old 'tried and trues', but I love having other references on hand. Thanks for the review! Can't wait to see what you cook up!
